Restoring Backup File on New Phone S9

As instructed, started new thread. Upgrading from S6 to S9, using version 4. Using Dropbox instead of sd card as it is new phone. I am trying to update my new phone with my last phone backup and it opens my Garmin application with the backup file. Eden Melgar said 3 hours ago SUPPORT Hi Lalo, This is not at all related to this forum topic. Please create your own topic to discuss your own issues. Please note that I would need to know what version of mSecure you are using, what type of device, and how you're trying to restore from a backup file.  Here's guide that can help: v5: https://m7software.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/36000023235-backup-and-restore-android v4: https://m7software.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/36000027563-backup-and-restore-using-the-internal-sd-card-4-0-6-

Hi Lalo,

If you've been using mSecure 4 and Dropbox syncing in mSecure 4, please set up Dropbox syncing in mSecure 4 to sync in your information: https://m7software.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/36000028451-dropbox-syncing-android-4-0-6

I am having a similar issue. I have upgraded my phone from an S6 to S9,  The old app came accross but none of the data.

I last backed up to drop box 9 months ago so figured if I can restore from those files, I'll have most of my data.

Alas it can't sync with dropbox much less restore a backup.

When I go to link to my dropbox app it sits and thinks....and thinks....and thinks

But nothing else

If I get the new msecure5 can I use the backup file to populate the newer software?

Please help. Living without my passwords is becoming excrutiatingly painful and the lack of response from the support team is twisting the knife

Hi T.bird,

Thank you for contacting us and I'm sorry about the issue you are experiencing.  Can you let me know why you can't sync via Dropbox in mSecure 4? What version number of mSecure 4 are you using? mSecure 4.0.6 from the Google Play Store should have no issues using Dropbox syncing. Is the issue with the cloud sync password you used to set up Dropbox syncing in mSecure 4 originally?

Yes, mSecure 5 can restore from a .msim backup file so it can be sued to populate the app with your old information. mSecure 4 on Android creates auto backups in your Dropbox account whenever Dropbox syncing is enabled (Dropbox/mSecure/backups) so you could have backup files there that you can use to restore your information. Please note that mSecure 4 Android backup files are encrypted with the cloud sync password you used when you set up that feature.
