Your authentication email and attached PDF file are a safety net for accessing and authenticating your mSecure account.

Account authentication

To keep your information as secure as possible, it is encrypted with a very long and random key. In addition to your account password, which is used to access the information stored in mSecure, this “Account Key” is required to authenticate you as the owner of your mSecure account. Authentication will be necessary any time you are signing in to your account for the first time after installing the mSecure app.

The way our security system works, you should have received the authentication email after you first signed in to your mSecure account in mSecure 5 on a device. We have found that for some customers the email gets placed in either a spam/junk folder or some other folder in their email app do to rules set up to automatically route incoming emails. Make sure to run a search in your email app to see if you can find an email with the subject: "no-reply@msecure.com". Be sure to run a search specifically from inside your spam folder as some apps omit this folder when searching for emails.

Note: mSecure 5.5 and above for iOS and Mac will automatically save your encrypted account key in your iCloud Drive after you've authenticated into your account at least once in msecure 5 on iOS or Mac. If mSecure 5.5 finds the encrypted account key in your iCloud Drive and authenticates your account without error, it will automatically authenticate your account without you needing to authenticate manually.
