Google passkeys

I see now that Google will prompt users to go for passkeys instead of traditional passwords. Is this something I can enable using my current mSecure app? (I have mSecure 6.1.4 on iPadOS 17.0.3)

I just purchased NordVPN, which includes NordPass, a password manager that also handles Passkeys.  I’ve really enjoyed mSecure and it really fits my family and work flow, BUT I’m running into more and more sites with Passkeys and will have to do something sooner than later.

Hi Everyone,

mSeven Software understands the want for the Passkey feature and we will look into how we can implement this feature moving forward. What we are currently about to release is our new update which will be mSecure 7. This will give our users an update on UI and new features that many of our users have been requesting like a Windows browser extension. We are in the process of making final tests on this new version which will be released in the coming weeks. After this priority is finished, we will then look at all of our new feature requests, including Passkeys, and we will see how we can implement them.

Mark, thank you for your quick response. While I do appreciate your customer service, I have thought long and hard this weekend about my account passwords. Now with Google having a security breach and requesting users to migrate to Passkeys I have decided to move away from MSecure. If MSecure wants to play with the BIG BOY security programs then it must be developing and adapting to current security trends. Your response did not give me much confidence in a timeline and whether or not Passkeys would ever be implemented. With about nine months left of my subscription, I’m slowly going to migrate my accounts to 1Password. For .50 cents more a month on an annual plan I will have more features, better security and future upgrades. I believe MSecure has failed their loyal customers over the years by not keeping up. Best wishes for the apps success. Respectfully, Don
Mark, I’m going to echo Don’s sentiments. I’ve been a customer from nearly the beginning. Back when mSecure’s business model was buy the software and it was yours forever. I also completely supported the switch to subscription. And you treated us long term subscribers fairly with discounts going forward. Plus I have always been a fan of the interface. So the only issue is passkeys. This is an essential step in the evolution of our (your customers) digital security. Currently it’s necessary to use Apple’s Passwords app for my passkey requirements. This is not what I want for the long term. It’s essential that mSecure moves quickly (and securely) forward with this necessary update. Please resolve this soon as I also will be forced to look at other options. Sincerely, Mike.
Sadly Michael I don’t think our security concerns are being heard. My password manager (MSecure) is the most important app on my phone, and it’s just not as secure as the competitors at this time. I think I’m done waiting.

Hey Guys, I’ve turned on Passkeys in the Apple ecosystem and started to create Passkeys and store them there!  I’m also using Passkeys to save passwords, etc there all while having mSecure enabled.  This is allowing me to gradulay build a backup password management system.  Passwords also has the ability to share passwords with my family.

I like everyone else here who has been talking about this on this thread for a year, I’ve enjoyed mSecure, however I believe were’re at the point where enough is enough!

Hi Mark, is there any update from your side? When do you expect implementing Passkeys? This thread started 2 years ago and since more sites do support passkeys only,  we need this supported in msecure now.  As Barry writes, it seems we have to move to another password management system. Moving to another system is not what I want to, but unfortunately it seems it is the only option we have.
