Sharing Center: Securely Share Records
The mSecure Sharing Center introduces Vaults, allowing users to securely share selected records with other mSecure users while maintaining separate accounts. This feature eliminates the need to share full account credentials and is ideal for families, teams, or businesses needing shared access.
Key Features & Considerations
- Encrypted Sharing: Select and share records securely without compromising your entire database.
- User Management: Invite users to shared Vaults and set specific access levels.
- Caution Required: Ensure you are sharing data with the correct users. Deleted or edited data cannot be recovered by mSeven Software.
Adding Users
Before sharing data, you must first add users to your Sharing Center:
- Open mSecure and unlock your device.
- Go to Sharing Center from the menu.
- Select Users > tap the "+" button.
- Enter the user's email and tap "Invite".
- The user receives an email with an invite and Share Key.
Accepting a Shared Vault Invitation
An invited user can join a Shared Vault by:
- Clicking "Accept Invitation" in the email to open mSecure.
- Copying the Share Key and entering it in mSecure under Sharing Center.
Important: Double-check recipient details before sharing your Share Key, as this action cannot be undone.
Vaults: Managing Shared Records
Vaults store shared records separately from your personal database. They allow multiple users to view, edit, or manage selected data securely. For basic sorting and categorization, we recommend using Tags.
Creating a New Vault on Desktop:
- Open mSecure > Go to Sharing Center.
- Click "+" and enter a Vault Name.
- Add Pre-invited Users and assign access levels.
- Click "Save".
Creating a New Vault on Mobile:
- Open mSecure > Tap Sharing Center.
- Tap "+", enter a Vault Name, and add members.
- Assign user privileges and Save changes.
Adding & Managing Records in a Vault
You can add existing or new records to a Shared Vault:
Adding Existing Records
- Open mSecure and select a record.
- Tap Edit (pencil icon) > Change Vault Name.
- Save changes. (On desktop, batch edit multiple records by holding Shift.)
Creating a New Record in a Vault
- Open mSecure > Tap "+" to create a record.
- Assign it to a Shared Vault instead of your personal database.
User Privileges in a Shared Vault
- Owner: Full control over Vaults and records.
- Admin: Can manage users but not change Owner privileges.
- Write: Can add and edit records.
- Read: Can view records only.
Changing User Privileges
- Open mSecure > Go to Sharing Center.
- Select a Vault > Click Edit.
- Adjust user privileges from the drop-down menu.
Note: Changes take effect immediately.
