Backup and Restore - Mac
Learn everything you need to know about mSecure backups, like how to create and restore from them and where they are located.
Creating a backup
You can backup your mSecure data directly within the app, and restore from backups through the toolbar on top of your screen.
NOTE: If you used to run an older version of mSecure, mSecure can restore from older mSecure backup files ending in .msim if needed. However, mSecure creates backup files ending in .msib.
- Open mSecure and choose File > Backup.
- Choose a location to store your backup on your computer, or elsewhere. You can store your backup file wherever you’d like.
Restoring from a backup
- Open mSecure and choose File > Restore
- Once the file selector opens up, select the backup you want to restore
- Click "Open"
IMPORTANT: Restoring from a backup file will override any information in your mSecure account, and sync the changes to all signed-in devices if you have the mSecure Cloud enabled.
Creating an Internal/iCloud Backup

- Click mSecure from the top menu bar (command+comma)

You'll have to make sure that mSecure is enabled in your iCloud Drive settings. Thankfully, it is by default. If mSecure is enabled on your iCloud Dive settings, mSecure will create a backup file in your iCloud Drive account. The file can be found at:
iCloud Drive/mSecure/UserID/backups
You can access that file on all of your devices, and the backup will be available in the Backups settings in mSecure on your account on all iOS or Mac devices.
