Auto Backups - iOS

mSecure automatically creates backups of your information after 5 changes are detected. You can use these backups to restore your information whenever needed. By default, these backups are stored in your iCloud Drive and can be accessed directly on your iCloud Drive.

If you disable access to your iCloud Drive for mSecure, the auto-backups will be stored within the app itself. Removing the app will delete the auto-backups if access to your iCloud Drive is disabled for our app.

Creating or Viewing an Auto-Backup

  1. Open and unlock mSecure
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Backups
  5. Tap Backup Now

You'll have to make sure that mSecure is enabled in your iCloud Drive settings. Thankfully, it is by default. If mSecure is enabled on your iCloud Dive settings, mSecure will create a backup file in your iCloud Drive account. The file can found at:

iCloud Drive/mSecure/UserID/backups

You can access that file on all of your devices, and the backup will be available in the Backups settings in mSecure on your account on all iOS or Mac devices.

Restoring from an Auto-Backup

  1. Open and unlock mSecure
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Backups
  5. Tap the backup you'd like to restore from
  6. Tap Restore now

If you have a .msib backup file you created elsewhere, you can either email yourself the backup and use the instructions provided here to restore from an email backup file, or alternatively, you can move the backup file to your iCloud Drive (iCloud Drive/mSecure/UserID/backups) and access the backup and restore from the backup file with the steps above.
