Auto Backups - Android
mSecure automatically creates backups of your information after 5 changes are detected. You can use these backups to restore your information whenever needed. mSecure for Android creates these backups in your device's internal storage -Internal Storage/mSecure/backups (if you ran mSecure 5 beforehand, your folder will be called mSecure 5). Restoring from a backup file will overwrite any existing information or replace any existing information with the information found in the backup file.
Uninstalling the app will not delete the auto-backups. However, the backup files will be removed if the mSecure folder is manually deleted or if you go through a factory reset on your device.
Viewing Auto-Backups
You’ll need to download a file manager from Google Play to view your device's files. Most devices also include a file manager by default:
- Open your file manager of choice
- Select to explore your internal storage
- Tap the mSecure folder
- Tap "backups"
NOTE: Only 5 backup files will be stored in this backups folder. If you'd like to keep more than 5 backup files, you'll have to copy or move the backup files to a different folder.
Restoring from an Auto-Backup
- Open and unlock mSecure
- Tap the menu icon
- Tap Settings
- Tap Restore
- Tap the backup you'd like to restore from
- Enter the backup's password
mSecure will automatically start in the backups folder. However, you can navigate anywhere in your device's internal storage by tapping the back arrow on the top left. Note that all backup files are encrypted with the account password used when the backup file was created. You will have to enter the correct password in order to restore your information.
